Lost at sea

Ancient vessel, lost at sea
Adrift beneath those countless stars
Her ghost crew doth often sings
A few timeless, melancholic bars

Alone, beneath the moon so white
Through storms and ocean gales
Her sail aflutter, as if a shroud
Her horn a silent wail

No living being lays eyes on her
No saint, nor buccaneer
If thou dost see her, in thy journeys far
Know that thy end is near

Poignant. Made me think.
The vessel is like a human being.
The crew are society, its norms and the compulsions imposed by others that drive or steer a person.
The stars are the guiding lights aka friends, family, mentors who guide us.
The storms are the difficulties we must face up to.
The journey is our course of life.
And being lost at sea is like being lost in the crowd (a sea of faces.)
Sigh!

@SIM - Wow! You're actually really close to what I was thinking! For me the crew was more like the decisions and instincts that drive a person, the stars the circumstances that lead you to you final destination and the storms and gales are the people we meet along the way friends enemies alike because strong winds can be beneficial or harmful depending on what direction they're blowing in.
Sigh!
