If no one knew who you were...

Would you be a different person?

Would you sing out loud, or hum quietly in your head?

Would you walk/dress differently? Would you wear more/less makeup?

Would you still listen to the same songs?

Would you play them loud to fill up the silence, or mute out the world to listen to yourself?

Would you read to occupy your mind, or write to have a conversation with yourself?

Would you dance like no ones watching? Or would you crawl up and sleep some more?

Would you eat what you usually do?

Would you spend more/less money?

Would you bury yourself in your corner? Or go out seeking a known face?

Would you still notice the inanities around you or would you be lost in thoughts of your own?

If you could be whoever you wanted to be ... would you still be you?

- Mubaraks on the car. Be safe and HAVE FUN!

- Blog rolled you :)

- If you had a choice, wouldn't you want to do things differently than be a different person? I guess it is circumstances that I would wish had happened differently, but as a person, I could still be or not be many things. So far haven't given up completely on me, still glad I am me (traces of narcissism?)

Thats a tough call!! And a good one! I would prolly love to be the careless person that I always wanted to be without having to give a damn about the world! Sadly, not possible!

@cuckoo - thank u! will do! and thank u!
I think what you do does to a certain extent make you who you are. Of course notwithstanding the intentions part of it (which is a completely different argument). But I do believe a person is as defined by his actions.

@nithya - True. My quandary was just who is that me? the me that everyone sees .. is it a transient personality? or is it what I am in the truest sense of me... sorry .. its gets too abstract from this point forth :)

@bullshee - alas! me too!

@zee - o u poor thing! cry not .. we're all here and we all know you (as if we could forget you and get away with it :D)

@ganju - with all the graying chest hair and what have you -- you're sure you wanna go with the less make up? :D also since less is actually relative ... how much make up do you currently wear I wonder :D

@cool - thats nice to hear! tho I wasn't really talking about changing ones circumstances rather one's response to them. So even living the life you are .. would you change how you live it? would you do things differently?
and yes you may be de-tagged :)

@candid - *sigh!* very popular dream I fear ... but think about it .. it could be fun though to try it for a while... what say? let loose .. be carefree .. why not?! you go gurl!

@nasia - yes you're right it is different .. would you then be 3 different people? 1 for people who know you, 1 for people who don't but are around you and 1 for just you?
-lonely dinners .. i think a lot of us have had those at some point ...
-also again as I had said asked cool .. its not about changing your physical self/situation ... but your mentality .. would you be a different person and still be you?

@chaitali - hehe! I'm gearing up for a solitary patch .. but point taken .. shall try n keep the posts light in the future .. though if you skim through the archives, I guess you'll see I have a tendency to brood :)

I had a HUGE comment typed out. Then google asked me to log in and I lost it.

If I could change myself, I'd get a CS degree, get a job at google and stop annoying shit like that from happening.

thank you for your generous offer. i also recall a post of your's where you heaped scorn upon people who make offers and don't live up to them. so i'm sure you would not have offerd if you didn't mean it :)

this is the "make up" i would like:
1. Emporio Armani He Eau de Toilette
2. Acqua di Gio Eau de Toilette
3. Calvin Klein - Eternity

hmmm - yes, that will do for the time being ;)

@anshul - hahahaha! nahi sir! i don't think so .. hum geek log apne code ke saath hi theek hain .. :D

@ganju - hehehe! well tried .. unfortunately amazon aapke products ko apni make up ki category mein list hi nahi karte ... thus thou art disqualified from offer :P
Alas!

I already dance like no one's watching, even if everyone is and everyone knows who it is making all those moves! :)

But if no one knew who I was, I'd def wear less make up (not of ganju's vareity - real make up), dress differently, and do more outrageous things! Thats what anonymity can do to you! :)

Nice post, very thought provoking.. oh and don't worry, i totally relate to your tendency to brood :)

@ruchika - thank you ruchi! but less make up and more outrageous things?! for me make up it self would be outrageous!!!all the same I know what you mean ... that was ust my point ... anonymity can be strangely liberating :)

Not a different person, but an interesting variation could be to see how close to this person I would have been had some decisions in life gone wrong, or right.

Whatever I am, it's me. And I won't even allow anyone else to be me. :)
